City of Oxford reinstates mask mandate until March 1

The city of Oxford has reinstated a mask mandate for all public indoor settings due to the latest surge in COVID-19 cases.

The ordinance was passed during the City Council meeting on Tuesday.

Masking is required for anyone ages two and up in all indoor public spaces.

When possible, the ordinance asks that individuals wear masks recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including three-ply surgical masks, KN95 masks, and N95 masks. When those masks cannot be used, a cloth mask is allowable.

People are not required to wear a mask while actively eating or drinking, participating in a sport, working in a private space, or receiving personal services that a mask would prevent.

The mask mandate will be in place until March 1.

City Council also passed a resolution recommending that residents get vaccinated.
