City plans Emerson Park closure for February

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The City of Grand Junction announced Tuesday they’ll be closing Emerson Park beginning Feb. 26 to begin construction of the new Emerson Skate Park. Fencing will be erected around the park during renovations, which are anticipated to continue through the summer.

Grand Junction’s City Council approved funding for the skate park as part of the 2024 budget.

The city says the ‘reactivation’ of Emerson Park is a priority in their Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan.

More information on the Emerson Park project can be found on the Engage GJ website.
