City police approved for new tasers, set national standard for use of force

The Baltimore City Board of Estimates has unanimously approved new tasers for the Baltimore City Police Department. "We have been successful in achieving initial compliance on our consent decree on all paragraphs related to the use of what's called a controlled electronic weapon," said Eric Melancon, deputy commissioner of the Compliance Bureau. Melancon said BPD has changed how they use tasers over the past several years.
