City, Poly players' recognition as scholar-athletes overlooked

The end-of-game fight Friday night that forced two popular Baltimore high schools to forfeit their football seasons left quite a few players and students disappointed, but 11 News found a silver lining. Fans and students couldn't wait for kickoff of the Baltimore City College/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute football game, but there was a moment lost in the pregame hype. One player from each team was selected as a student scholar-athlete, and the students believe they missed their big moment in the spotlight. The academic achievements of No. 2 from City and No. 23 from Poly were to be recognized. Both players' achieved the highest grade-point averages on their respective teams.
