City of Sacramento buys 102-acre property for homeless services, affordable housing

The city of Sacramento purchased over 100 acres of land from the federal government to help house people experiencing homelessness. Following a bidding process that cost the city $12.3 million from the U.S. Department of Labor, city officials are hoping the community can get involved in developing the 102-acre property. "We have the Department of Community Response, but I know that their success is really dependent on making sure that we lean in," city councilmember Mai Vang said in wanting more people to take part in the project. At least 25% of the property will be used for affordable housing.
