Civil rights hero's sculpture to be placed in Capitol

A Maryland artist is creating a sculpture of a civil rights hero that will soon replace the Robert E. Lee statue in the U.S. Capitol. That hero is Barbara Rose Johns, an activist who led a walkout at her segregated school in Virginia. And, artist Steven Weitzman is an expert at making larger than life sculptures of people with a larger-than-life impact on history. Weitzman's latest project sits in the center of his workspace. The Commission for Historical Statues in the United States Capitol tapped him to create a sculpture of Johns to sit in Statuary Hall at the Capitol.
