Russian attacks in several areas of Ukraine killed and seriously injured civilians in the communities of Kherson, Kupyansk, Orikhiv, and Nikopol over the past 24 hours, local regional administrations reported on Aug. 20.

Russians hammered small communities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhya oblasts.

One person was killed, and another injured in a Russian attack on Kherson, regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on Telegram.

The Russians used mortars, artillery, tanks, multiple rocket launchers, and drones to pummel Kherson Oblast over the last day. The oblast was shelled 442 times, with the capital getting hit 14 times. Houses, critical infrastructure, and a plant were damaged.

Occupying Russian troops shelled Kupyansk in Kharkiv Oblast at about 7:00 a.m. on Aug. 20.

"A man of about 40 (years) sustained a severe injury. Currently, medics are fighting for his life," Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Synehubov wrote on Telegram.

The settlements of Bohoduhiv, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, and Izyum came under enemy fire in the past day as well, he added.

A house was damaged and a meat processing plant caught fire in Kupyansk. A forest was set on fire by Russian shelling in Kruhliakivka. Four houses were damaged in Kozacha Lopan, and an agricultural facility in Cherneshchyna. Russian selling caused severe damage to warehouses and utility buildings in Oleksandrivka. Vilchi suffered heavy shelling in which 11 houses, a kindergarten, a boarding house, a bakery, and a church were damaged.

A 74-year-old woman was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in a heavy artillery shelling in the evening on Aug. 19. Five houses, four sheds, and two power lines were damaged, Serhiy Lysak said.

A 56-year-old man was wounded in an artillery shelling of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. In total, Russian occupiers shelled the region 80 times over the past day, the head of the regional military administration, Yuriy Malashko, reported on Telegram.

Russians attacked Gulyaypole, Olhivske, Levadne and Pavlivka with UAVs, launched nine MLRS attacks on Novodarivka, Gulyaypole, Poltavka, Levadne, Temyrivka, Kamianske and Stepove, and two air strikes on Yehorivka.

In addition, 65 artillery attacks were reported on Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Chervone, Chervone, Yablunne, Preobrazhenka, Pyatikhatky, Plavny and other settlements on the frontline.
