CJ2K League Report: WPIAL champs Summers & Fusetti carry success over to blacktop

Each week this summer the Times will provide updates on stats and standings, along with the top performers in the CJ2K League ― a highly popular outdoor summer basketball league that takes place in Beaver County. Here are the highlights from last week:

Boys' Player of the Week: Dawson Summers, Midland Old School

Most area basketball fans should know Summers from his excellence on the court at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. The now OLSH graduate played a significant role in his team's historic success, helping them capture back-to-back PIAA titles. That type of success has carried over into the summer, where the forward has his team sitting at the top of the South Division standings with a perfect 3-0 record.

Girls' Player of the Week: Alena Fusetti, Butler Lady Flying Dutchmen

Like Summers, Fusetti is also a WPIAL champion. Last winter as a sophomore, the sharp shooter helped lead Blackhawk to a District 7 crown with a perfect record. Fusetti's abilities look to be improving by the day, as the now junior leads the league in scoring, averaging 26-points a game.
