Claire Erickson named 2023 valedictorian for Sault High

SAULT STE. MARIE — The school year is about to come to an end and Sault High students are preparing for graduation.
All of the 145 graduating students accomplished a lot in their time at Sault Area Schools, but only one will be recognized as valedictorian for the Class of 2023.
Claire Erickson was named the valedictorian, graduating with a 4.078 GPA.
Daughter of Keith Erickson and Raechelle Mitchell, Erickson participated in many local groups and clubs while in school.
Erickson was a contributing member to Business Professionals of America, Students United and the National Honor Society. She was also a member of several sports teams, including basketball, volleyball, the Amateur Athletic Union, and track and field.

After graduation, Erickson will be attending Ferris State University to study finance. She is already planning on playing on the Ferris State basketball team.
“I am truly honored to be your valedictorian,” said Erickson. “I can’t wait to see what you all accomplish after this.”
Sault Area High School's 2023 commencement ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on May 28.
