Claremont woman dies in Westmoreland motor-vehicle crash

Aug. 13—WESTMORELAND — A Claremont woman was killed in a motor-vehicle crash that left two others injured in Westmoreland Friday afternoon, N.H. State Police announced in a news release that night.

Sharon McLaughlin, 72, died at the scene, the release says.

The crash occurred on Route 12, north of Capron Road.

According to police, McLaughlin had been driving south in a 2009 Suzuki SX4 when it crossed the yellow line and hit a 2021 Toyota Venza being driven by Zachary Turpin, 33, of Franklin, Mass. He and his passenger, Jillian Turpin, 29, also of Franklin, Mass., suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, the release says.

Troopers from N.H. State Police's Troop C barracks responded to the scene at about 3:40 p.m. They were assisted by Westmoreland Fire & Rescue, the Walpole Police Department, the Keene Fire Department and DiLuzio Ambulance Service.
