All Athens-area high school football games moved to Thursday because of Hurricane Ian

All Athens-area's high school football games have now been moved to Thursday because of expected inclement weather caused by Hurricane Ian.

Oglethorpe County and Seckinger agreed late Tuesday to play its game at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Athens Christian, Commerce, Jefferson and Winder-Barrow added to the list of games announced on Tuesday afternoon.

ApalacheeCedar ShoalsClarke Central, East Jackson, Jackson CountyNorth Oconee, Madison CountyOconee County and Prince Avenue announced on Monday that they will move up their games as well.

Commerce will face First Presbyterian Day at 7 p.m. while Jefferson hosts Winder-Barrow and Athens Christian travels to Loganville Christian for 7:30 p.m. games.

Apalachee goes to Shiloh, Cedar Shoals travels to Cherokee Bluff, Clarke Central leaves for Flowery Branch and Oconee County heads to Hebron Christian. North Oconee, ranked second in Class 4A, Prince Avenue Christian, ranked first in Class A Division I, East Jackson and Jackson County will host homecoming games. Madison County hosts Apalachee. They will all kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Athens Academy and Oglethorpe County have byes this week.

The Weather Channel's latest track has the storm making landfall around Tampa, Fla., early Thursday morning and moving directly north across Georgia as a low pressure system.

Heavy rains and winds are expected to linger in the Athens area throughout Saturday and into Sunday morning.

Cedar Shoals at Cherokee Bluff, Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Apalachee at Shiloh, Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Winder-Barrow at Jefferson, Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Athens Christian at Loganville Christian, Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
