Clarke and Oconee school announce 2024 graduation changes

Graduation plans in May 2024 for four Athens area high schools have been changed due to the University of Georgia announcing that Stegeman Coliseum will not be available due to construction.

Although UGA will begin hosting university sporting events at the Coliseum in October, it will close the facility after the basketball and gymnastics seasons, according to statements from the Clarke County and Oconee County school districts.

Cedar Shoals High has set graduation for 9 a.m. May 23 in the Waters-Wilkins Stadium on campus, while Clarke Central High will hold a ceremony at 9 a.m. May 24 in Billy Henderson Stadium.

Any changes due to weather will be announced at a later date. Also, graduation for Classic City High will be announced later.

North Oconee High has set graduation for 7:30 p.m. May 17 at Titan Stadium, with a weather makeup for 10 a.m. May 18.

Oconee County High is set for 7:30 p.m. May 18 in Warrior Stadium with a weather makeup set for 7:30 p.m. May 19.
