Clarksville elected officials swearing-in ceremony set for Jan. 4

A special session of Clarksville City Council has been called for the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 4, for the sole purpose of administering the oath of office to Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and seven Clarksville City Council members.

The swearing-in ceremony is set for 4 p.m. at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, 8 Champions Way, in Liberty Park.

"The Oath of Office ceremony is a time-honored tradition to celebrate those who chose to enter the arena of public service to our city as a member of the City Council," Mayor Pitts said.  "The seven members who will take the oath will join five of their colleagues and me to keep this city moving forward."

On Nov. 8, Mayor Pitts was re-elected for a second term, in the 2022 State General and Clarksville City Elections.

Council members who will take the oath on Jan. 4 after being elected on Nov. 8 include Brian Zacharias, Ward 1; Deanna McLaughlin, Ward 2; Ambar Marquis, Ward 5; Wanda Smith, Ward 6; Travis Holleman, Ward 7; Stacey Streetman, Ward 10; and Joe Shakeenab, Ward 11.

On the following day, Thursday, Jan. 5, the full council is scheduled to  meet at 6 p.m. in regular monthly session, in Council Chambers, 106 Public Square.
