Clashes near hotel after alleged arrival of Lavrov's daughter in Georgia; multiple arrests
Reportedly, some protesters were detained near the Kvareli Lake Resort hotel at about 11 a.m. (10 a.m. Kyiv time).
As of now, about 16 people have been detained, including members of the opposition parties Droa and the United National Movement.
Media report that the detainees were taken to the nearest police stations for questioning.
Earlier, local outlets broke the news that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's daughter, Ekaterina Vinokurova (Lavrova), allegedly flew to Georgia to celebrate the wedding of her husband's brother, Alexander Vinokurov.
The Georgian publication Mtavari reported that the celebration would take place in Kakheti.
The couple got married in Tbilisi on May 20.
In turn, the Kvareli Lake Resort accused the journalists of spreading misinformation and said that they do not have visitors with the surname Lavrov.
Reports about the possible stay of Lavrov's daughter or son-in-law at another hotel, Akhasheni Wine Resort & Spa — where, according to the Georgian media, some of the guests might have stayed — have been denied.
