Class of 2022: Check out these graduates from Bucks County and Montco

Graduation is in full swing for the Class of 2022. Communities are celebrating their graduates' accomplishments and bright futures in commencement ceremonies taking place throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties over the next couple of weeks. We will be capturing a handful of graduations.

Congrats Class of 2022!

Bucks County Community College

Bucks County Community College students graduated on May 19 at the Newtown campus. Jasmine Ramos, an early childhood education major, and Patrick Finnegan, a music major who is very involved with the Music Society Club, were selected to address their fellow graduates. BCCC bestowed associate degree diplomas to 444 graduates in two ceremonies on the Newtown campus. Another 52 students earned certificates in various study programs. It was also the first commencement for new BCCC President Dr. Felicia L. Ganther, who has led the schools since July. She is the first African-American president in the college’s 58-year history.

Montgomery County Community College

Montgomery County Community College’s Class of 2022 is the largest in the college’s history with 1,606 graduates earning 1,664 degrees and certificates last week. Members of the class ranged in age from 16 to 73 years, and 550 students were first-generation college graduates.

Bensalem High School

Bensalem High School sent of its Class of 2022 on Friday, June 17 at its 98th Annual Commencement. The class included 472 students, who collectively earned about $7.5 million.

Bucks County Intermediate Unit

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit celebrated 45 graduates on June 6, in Warminster. This year’s graduating class includes special education students from 11 Bucks County School Districts, and the School Districts of Eastern Lancaster, Philadelphia, Spring-Ford, and Wyoming Valley. Bucks IU Executive Director Dr. Mark Hoffman said, “I speak for all Bucks IU staff when I say how proud we are of the effort, determination, and resilience of these amazing students. They have worked incredibly hard to reach this important milestone and to graduate. Congratulations to all our Bucks IU graduates with our best wishes for a wonderful future!”

Bucks County Technical High School

Bucks County Technical High School held its 2022 Commencement Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey.

Neshaminy High School

The Class of 2022 picked up their diplomas in a commencement ceremony Wednesday night at the school's stadium. The class included 680 students. Some 649 participated in commencement, a school district official said.

North Penn High School

North Penn handed diplomas to 1,023 seniors during graduation ceremonies on June 9.

It was the first full-class ceremony held at the newly renovated Crawford Stadium, and the last for retiring Superintendent Curtis Dietrich, who began his career with the district when members of the Class of 2022 began kindergarten.

The evening began with words from Principal Pete Nicholson, followed by School Board President Tina Stoll. Student speakers were Valedictorian Ananya Venkatachalam, Salutatorian Benjamin Fillgrove, staff-selected speaker Olivya Grandy, and Senior Class President Linsey Gilbert. The students spoke of memories from their time at North Penn, and their hopes for the future as they begin their next chapters.

Dr. Curtis Dietrich, Superintendent of Schools, attended his last ceremony as Superintendent before his retirement on June 30, 2022. Dr. Dietrich wished the Class of 2022 well, and bid farewell to North Penn alongside them. Dr. Dietrich began with the North Penn School District in 2010 when the Class of 2022 began Kindergarten.

Council Rock North High School

Both district high schools, Council Rock North and Council Rock South, said goodbye to its seniors Thursday night.

Quakertown Community High School

Quakertown Community High School celebrated the Class of 2022 Wednesday at Alumni Memorial Field. There were 414 graduates who earned a total of $8.9 million in scholarships, officials said. Ten graduates are entering the military. The class includes 15 AP Scholar With Distinction, 15 AP Scholar With Honor and eight AP Capstone Diploma students.

Conwell-Egan Catholic

Conwell-Egan Catholic graduating class of 2022 included 93 students. Commencement was held Tuesday at the private school in Fairless Hills. The Class of 2022 from CEC earned over $16.7 million in scholarship money. About 92 percent of CEC students are heading to college or secondary technical schools, including 72 percent going to four-year colleges. Another 4 percent are joining the workforce and 1 percent are joining the US military. Salutatorian Claire Gutherman and Valedictorian John Moyer addressed the graduates at commencement.

Pennsbury High School

Pennsbury will graduate 741 seniors on Thursday night on Falcon Field in Falls. The rain date for graduation is Friday. Nearly $5.2 million in scholarship money has been awarded to the Class of 2022. Post-secondary plans for the graduates include a commitment to the United States military, trade schools, and two- and four-year colleges and universities, including Carnegie Melon, Penn State, Harvard, California Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, University of Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, and many more, according to the district. Student speakers at graduation are Alexis Harman, Pennsbury High School class president; Alen Ibric, Krishna Thacker, and Adiyta Gaba.

The senior class held its famous prom ahead of graduation on Saturday, June 4.

Central Bucks High School

Central Bucks' three high schools celebrated their combined 1,539 graduates with back-to-back ceremonies on Friday, June 10.

Of the graduates — 480 at Central Bucks East, 565 at Central Bucks South and 494 at Central Bucks West — 46% graduated with a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 or higher, with 371 graduating summa cum laude, 210 graduating magna cum laude, and 94 graduating cum laude. More than 88% will continue their education after high school. Of those, 1,161 will attend four-year colleges or universities and 187 will attend two-year colleges or career/technical schools.

Across all three high schools, Central Bucks school counselors processed in excess of 11,000 college applications during the 2021-22 school year. Six members of the class of 2022 have chosen to actively serve or enter the United States Military following graduation.

Esther Cheng of CB East, Michael Rehmet of CB South and Eric A. Mass of CB West were valedictorians. Joshua Lyzinski of East, Mehir Badlani of South and Trisha George of West were salutatorians.
