Class B fall sports recap: Awards, nominations and standings

Dec. 8—DICKINSON — A large contingent of southwest North Dakota's Class 11B, Region 4 Football and Class B, Region 7 Volleyball standouts from the 2022 season, as selected by the North Dakota Football Coaches Association, have been honored with All-State and All-Region nods.

11B FOOTBALL

Dickinson Trinity led the class with multiple selections to the all-state team, while the Bowman County Bulldogs claimed the second most honorees.

In Class 11B, Region 4 Football, the final region standings had Dickinson Trinity on top with an overall record of 9-2; Beulah came in second with an overall record of 9-3; Bowman County finished the season with a 6-4 record for third; Shiloh Christian High School garnered an 8-3 overall record for fourth; Hazen went sub .500 with a 4-5 overall record for fifth; Killdeer regrouped at the end of the season to go 3-6 overall for sixth place; Southern McLean suffered a 2-7 overall record to clinch seventh place; and Heart River would go winless at 0-8 to round out the region.

The following Region 4 players were honored with an All-State team placement for the 2022-23 season:

It would be senior standout Joey Desir, quarterback and defensive back for Shiloh Christian who would garner the 2022 Senior Athlete of The Year award for his leadership and statistical showcase.

Beulah High School's Jim Dooley would be honored with the 2022 Coach of the Year after leading his team to a competitive 9-3 overall record to take second in the region.

Region 7 VOLLEYBALL

Dickinson Trinity and Glen Ullin-Hebron would tie for the most selections to the All-Region and All-State teams, but it would be the Titans who clinched the top spot in the regional standings.

For Class B Volleyball, the final region standings had Dickinson Trinity on top with a record of 11-0; Glen Ullin-Hebron came in second with a record of 10-1; Beulah finished the season with a 8-2 record for third; Bowman County garnered an 8-3 overall record for fourth; Hettinger-Scranton would take fifth with a 6-4 record; New England split the season with a 3-3 record for sixth place; Richardton-Taylor suffered a 4-6 sub .500 record to clinch seventh place; Hazen would go 4-7 to take eighth; Beach fell to 2-8 for a ninth place finish; Killdeer and Heart River could come in tied for 10th with 2-9 records; and finishing last in 12th place was Mott-Regent whose wildfire burned out with their 1-9 record.

Stand outs Ava Jahner, Dickinson Trinity, and Taylor Christensen, Glen Ullin-Hebron, would be the only two Region 7 players honored with All-State team placements for the 2022-23 season.

It would be senior standout Taylor Christensen with Glen Ullin-Hebron who would garner the 2022 Senior Athlete of The Year award for her on-court leadership and superior performances.

Dickinson Trinity's Breanna Sisson would be honored with the 2022 Coach of the Year after leading her team to an undefeated regional record of 11-0 on the Titan's path to the top of the region.
