Classes at UF are starting soon. Here's some events for new, returning students
With move-in starting this week at the University of Florida and classes beginning on August 23, new students may be looking for ways to be involved.
Here are some upcoming UF events for new and returning Gators:
The Great Gator Welcome
This series of events runs from August 19 to 25 to mark the start of the fall semester and allows students to get connected, explore campus and meet new people.

New Student Convocation
Hosted as a part of the Great Gator Welcome, this event serves as an official welcome for first-year students, celebrating the class of 2027 and inducting them into higher education. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the 2027 class photo will be taken after convocation.
Horizons
August 18 - August 21
Horizons, from the Office of LGBTQ+ Student Engagement, serves to support new LGBTQ+ students at the university as they enter life at UF and in Gainesville. It is an in-person program and will have monthly events throughout the year for new first-year, transfer and international students identifying as LGBTQ+.
