Ready for some “Intergalactic” fun?

The Chris Rockwell Collective, with guests Kosha Dillz and Alexander Simone, will pay tribute to the Beastie Boys' classic album, “Hello Nasty,” on the eve of its 25th anniversary on Friday, March 31, at the House of Independents in Asbury Park.

“Nasty” was released July 14, 1998.

“After 'Licensed to Ill,' they were up and down a little bit but ('Hello Nasty') was their 'We're big, we're officially here,' ” Rockwell said.

Rockwell, a native of Brick, and crew will perform “Hello Nasty,” including the Fatboy Slim remix of “Body Moving,” and other Beasties hits live on stage. The band includes Alixandria Gagliastro of the Lake Champagne, plus Andrew Oliva, Timmy “BassKidd” Douglas and Josh Cabrera.

Dillz, who recently performed at the South By Southwest fest in Austin, will perform a set and a “Shabbat blessing because the Beastie Boys were Jewish,” Rockwell said.

“Hello Nasty,” the Beastie's fifth album, includes the hits “The Negotiation Limerick File,” “Remote Control/Three MC's and One DJ” and “Intergalactic.”

“ ‘Intergalactic' with the voice modulator,” Rockwell said. “The drums and the sound sounded like rap at that time, but they did that vocal to it which made them sound different.”

The album was the group's debut with Mix Master Mike, aka Michael Schwartz.

“The production was clean,” Rockwell said. “It's not dusty like the old ones. They were in full control with the live instrumentation, drum programming, using an 808 drum machine. They were doing everything themselves with Mix Master Mike and their engineer.”

Alas, the Beastie Boys are no more. Member Adam Yauch, aka MCA, died at 47 after a three-year battle with salivary cancer in 2012. The remaining members, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond, have stated they will not perform as the Beastie Boys without Yauch. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

A portion of the night's proceeds at the House on Independents show will be donated to the Asbury Park African-American Music Project, which seeks to share the music, cultural heritage and stories of the Springwood Avenue section of the city.

“I felt that if I'm doing any kind of a hip-hop show in Asbury Park, it's a good look to keep them in the conversation,” Rockwell said.
