Classic Lafayette restaurant serves great pizza, pasta, baked apple brie under new ownership
Looking for classic Italian food? La Pizzeria, located in the heart of Lafayette, has been serving up fresh fire-baked pizza, savory pasta and more for 25 years. . This staple of local culture recently embarked on a new chapter with a decked-out interior, menu updates, and new owners promising to deliver great quality and memories for years to come.
Randy Daniel the newest owner of La Pizzeria has been managing and owning restaurants since the 1990s. Daniel, a Baton Rouge native, moved to Lafayette with his family in 2015. His wife grew up in Lafayette and he had always loved the culture of the area. In late 2019 the Daniels took ownership of La Pizzeria.
"This location has been open close to 25 years. I've been here for about two and a half," he explains. "We remodeled and then we opened back up and two weeks later, things got shut down with COVID. So that made for trying times. We, of course, focused on takeaway and family-style meals."

Throughout the period of uncertainty brought by COVID, La Pizzeria used the time to make improvements across the board. Daniel really wanted to improve the quality of the ingredients used in the restaurant. Bringing in fresh, often locally sourced, ingredients and organic proteins and produce to use was a big step in the makeover process.
"It is food I can be proud of," He explains. "It's food that you can have with your family and know everybody's gonna find something they'll like. We updated and modernized a lot in the menu. But we tried to keep the core of what made La Pizzeria what it's been for 25 years. You'll still find a lot of those menu items you had as a child when you came in, just updated."

The menu contains a lot more than just pizza, offering an abundance of appetizers, entrees, and even desserts. Some of the most popular items include spinach and artichoke dip with bacon, pesto pasta salad, baked apple brie, fettuccine alfredo, and pork marsala.
Although pizza is not all they offer, it's is still a huge draw. The dough is made and hand-tossed in house daily. They offer pizza in sizes from personal 10-inch to an extra large 24-inch pizza. The most popular pizza option is to build your own but the Pizza Du Monde, Margarita, and Meat Market pizzas are also popular.
La Pizzeria does happy hour from 2- 5 p.m. on weekdays. They also have a "Wine Down Wednesday" special where all bottles of wine are half off all day.
