It's the first full weekend of spring and events are blooming everywhere. Promise yourself you'll get out and take in a play, a concert, a drink or a walk outside with a friend.

Experience Deep Purple via Stu Dias

'Jesus Christ Superstar' with a twist in Portsmouth

"Jesus Christ Superstar" opens Friday, March 25 at the Players' Ring in Portsmouth and will run through April 10. Presented by Dive In Productions, this 40-year-old musical has a new twist. All roles in this original production were cast as female-identifying, non-binary, or trans actors. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. The nearby Puddle Dock restaurant is offering a 10% discount on food and free parking to Players' Ring patrons. Visit their website to reserve, and present your ticket when you ask for your check. Tickets for the show are $28; $25 for seniors 65-plus and for students, and available at playersring.org.

Amare Cantare's latest project in Dover

The Seacoast’s vocal chamber chorus Amare Cantare will perform three concerts titled “Walk Through the Valley,” an eclectic program of unaccompanied choral gems from the past 20 years of Amare Cantare concerts, beginning this weekend. The Saturday, March 26 concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Dover City Hall. The Sunday, March 27 performance will take place at 3 p.m. at Stratham Community Church. On Wednesday, March 30, the performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington. All tickets are $15 and seats are limited to allow for social distancing. Tickets can be purchased online at amarecantare.org. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door, but advance purchase is recommended.

25 years of Dreadnaught at Stone Church

Dreadnaught will perform at The Stone Church in Newmarket on Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m. The trio, which has played together for more than 25 years, features Bob Lord on bass, Rick Habib on drums and Justin Walton on guitar. Special guest will be Almanac Mountain, led by Portsmouth-based composer and producer Chris Cote. Tickets are $15 and available at portsmouthnhtickets.com.

Swing band for night of dancing at Rockingham Ballroom

There'll be a Big Band Dance featuring the New Legacy Swing Band at The Rockingham Ballroom in Newmarket on Saturday, March 26 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. The Ballroom features a 4,000-square-foot floating wood floor. Dance is BYOB and will feature a healthy light food menu. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a free swing dance lesson then band begins playing at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at portsmouthnhtickets.com.
