The classic 'Petrushka' ballet re-imagined comes to Eugene

Dancers with the Eugene Ballet rehearsed Wednesday for their world premiere of Petrushka at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene.

The futuristic twist on a ballet classic was created by Eugene Ballet's resident choreographer Suzanne Haag and will be accompanied by Orchestra Next playing Igor Stravinksy’s score live. It incorporates large video monitors that reveal a virtual reality view as androids and humans interact on stage.

The show will include Toni Pimble’s The Rite of Spring and Melissa Bobick’s Apollon Musagète.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m Sunday at the Hult Center, One Eugene Center. For ticket information, visit eugeneballet.org/petrushka/
