If you're going to take a midnight train going anywhere in March 2023, you'll want to make sure it's headed to Des Moines to see two classic rock titans.

Wells Fargo Arena, 233 Center St., will welcome ❜70s rock band Journey on March 28 as part of the group's 2023 Freedom Tour, celebrating the band's 50th anniversary. Joining the group on this Des Moines visit will be Toto, another rock band out of the late ❜70s from Van Nuys, California.

Journey, which formed in 1973 in San Francisco, sings big hits such as "Faithfully," “Wheel in the Sky,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’” and "Don't Stop Believin'," the latter of which was recognized by the Grammy Awards in 2021 for its historical significance and subsequently added to the Grammy Hall of Fame. The song returned to the public eye in 2007 when "The Sopranos" played "Don't Stop Believin'" during the series finale. It went on to become the most downloaded 20th century track on the iTunes Music Store.

Previously, Journey appeared in Des Moines to play a 2018 show with Def Leppard, also at the Wells Fargo Arena, and before that, the band had a 2016 stop at the venue alongside The Doobie Brothers.

Toto, known for songs such as "Rosana" and "Africa," previously appeared in Des Moines this past March at Hoyt Sherman Place as part of its Dogz of Oz tour. Before that, the band was part of the Iowa State Fair's 2015 Grandstand.

Last year, Toto's song "Africa" surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify and the band as a whole has received more than 3 billion streams. The group has also taken home three Grammy Awards.

Tickets for the concert go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. and are available at the Wells Fargo Arena Box Office or hy-veetix.com.
