Claudia Conway - the daughter of Donald Trump's former advisor Kellyanne Conway - will be featured on American Idol when the show returns this Sunday.

The programme shared a preview of her appearance on social media.

Conway can be seen walking out in front judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan.

She describes herself to the camera as "very nervous but very excited".

A voiceover refers to her as "a social media sensation", right before Conway is seen introducing herself to the judges.

"I'm Claudia Conway," she tells the trio. "My parents are high-profile political figures."

The clip includes images of Claudia's mother, as well as her father George Conway, a founding member of the Lincoln Project.

After the voiceover asks about Conway: "Will she get a ticket to Hollywood?", Perry is heard telling the young singer: "We want an American idol."

Conway's audition will air during the show's 19th season premiere this Sunday, 14 February.

In a TikTok video, Conway provided more context for her decision to audition on the show, saying she's been singing for "[her] whole life" and grew up doing musical theatre.

"Music has been one of the pillars in my life, and I wouldn't be here without it," she said. "I play about eight instruments. I've just been doing it since I could walk."

Conway said she was offered to audition after the show's team saw a video of her singing.

"Everyone thinks this is a publicity stunt, but no," she added. "Music is my passion."
