Clay County mourns death of Commissioner Richard Lowery

Residents are mourning the death of Precinct 1 Clay County Commissioner Richard Lowery.

The 60-year-old Byers man passed away Tuesday and a visitation will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, the Precinct 1 crew, and the citizens of Clay County in this loss," Clay County Judge Mike Campbell said in a media release Wednesday.

Lowery's funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta with Brother Duane Perkinson, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Byers, officiating, according to Lowery's obituary.

The burial will take place in Byers Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Campbell said Lowery has worked for Clay County since March 1998, and he began serving as Precinct 1 commissioner in January 2017.

Lowery was a member of the First Baptist Church in Byers.

"He was a hard working man and was loved by everyone he knew," according to his obituary.
