Clay County Offers Free HIV, STD, Hepatitis B, and C Testing

The Clay County Community Paramedicine team partners with Independent Medical Group (IMG) to provide free HIV, STD, and Hepatitis B, and C testing on Wednesday, August 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Paramedicine Office.

Everyone is welcome. No appointment is necessary.

According to the World Health Organization, 2019 numbers show that an estimated 296 million people worldwide live with Hepatitis B and 58 million live with Hepatitis C.

A recent press release submitted by Clay County officials noted 2020 numbers from the Department of Health that include 6,150 deaths in Florida associated with opioid overdose. Fourty-four percent of those cases were also infected with Hepatitis. As the opioid epidemic continues to increase, Hepatitis infections are also expected to increase.

“Four in ten people don’t know they are infected with Hepatitis, which is why widespread testing is paramount to stopping the spread,” they said.

HIV and Hepatitis testing will be done on-site with immediate results. A haelth care provider will be onsite to discuss treatment options.

“With free testing, customized treatment plans, and prevention medications, the journey to wellness doesn’t have to be scary and you don’t have to go it alone,” they concluded.

Independent Medical Group is dedicated to testing and treatment regardless of socioeconomic class and with or without insurance coverage. For more information about free HIV and Hepatitis testing, call 1-800-773-7066.
