A Clay County deputy was laid to rest on Tuesday.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced last week that Sgt. Eric Danella died Monday, Dec. 19.

CCSO said Danella had served as a supervisor at the Clay County Jail.

Danella’s funeral service was held at First Baptist Church of Middleburg.

CCSO said Sheriff Michelle Cook, members of CCSO and law enforcement agencies from across the region paid their respects to Sgt. Danella and his family for his service to the community.

“Although Sergeant Danella did not pass away in the line of duty, he was still an active member of our agency and will be missed by all,” CCSO said in a Facebook post on Monday.

After the service, Danella was taken to his resting place at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
