A 28-year-old Clayton man was fatally shot Thursday night outside an apartment building in Gloucester Township, police there said.

The township police department and Camden County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Blackwood-Clementon Road at about 11:35 p.m. Thursday for reported gunshots. Police discovered David Brown on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.

Brown was taken to Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Stratford, where he died at around 12:34 a.m. Friday.
