Clean-Up Continues on Damaged Coquihalla Highway in British Columbia

Repair of the Coquihalla Highway could take months, after it was damaged by heavy flooding and mudslides in British Columbia, Canada, according to local authorities cited by Global News on November 18.

Sections of the highway between Hope and Merritt remained closed as of November 18, according to the British Columbia department of transport.

Part of the highway between Larson Hill, south of Merritt, and Juliet, was washed away by flooding on November 15.

Kurtis Brown filmed videos of the clean-up process on the highway from November 16 to November 17. Brown told Storyful the crew was working to prevent losing the north side of the Coquihalla highway.

“Construction plans are being made and temporary bridges are being hauled in soon,” Brown said. Credit: Kurtis Brown via Storyful
