Cleaning biz to set up shop in Northeast 'landmark'

Apr. 27—A Med City cleaning crew is ready to put a shine on an old Northeast Rochester building as they gear up to take their business to the next level.

Clean 20/20, owned by Miki Radovanovic, purchased a small building at 445 Alliance Place NE for $280,000 on April 15. That's the 576-square-foot cottage off of 37th Street Northeast, between First Alliance Credit Union and Energy Products & Design.

Radovanovic is also the chief operating officer for Rochester's hotel management firm, Avra Hospitality. He said renovation of the building will start soon, with the goal of occupying it in September. Radovanovic believes the location's high visibility, particularly after it's repainted in Clean 20/20's brand colors of white and orange, will help promote his four-year-old commercial cleaning business.

"It's almost like a landmark. I have always thought of that building as a gingerbread house," said Radovanovic. "It's like buying a billboard."

The unusual building has housed a string of food businesses, including Nowhere Special Coffee & Fresh Sandwiches, Smokehouse BBQ Shack and Paradise Island Coffee.

Alliance Properties, LLC, led by Energy Products owner Brent Buchan, sold the property to Clean 20/20. Rochester Realtors Patrick Sexton and Mike Busch represented Alliance Properties, which originally purchased the building in 2013 for $163,000. Mark Steege of Titan360 Commercial Real Estate represented the buyer.

Once the three-person administration team of Clean 20/20 is based there, Radovanovic sees the Northeast building as serving as an office as well as a demonstration showroom for clients.

Clean 20/20 was created out of a demand for cleaning services for commercial buildings like University Square, the US Bank Building and the H3 Building. It has grown to service many other clients, including the Newt's restaurants.

When the business is established in the Alliance Place building, Radovanovic hopes to expand Clean 20/20 beyond commercial cleaning and start offering residential services.

"The goal is to become the premium cleaning service in Rochester," he said.
