'The Cleaning Lady' gets green light for third season

Feb. 9—Fox placed its bet on "The Cleaning Lady."

The New Mexico-filmed TV drama received the green light for season three about seven weeks after the season finale.

"BOOM. We're back!!" wrote Miranda Kwok, the co-showrunner and executive producer of the series.

"The Cleaning Lady" follows whip-smart doctor, Thony, played by Élodie Yung, who comes to the U.S. for a medical treatment to save her ailing son.

When the system fails and pushes her into hiding, she refuses to be beaten down and marginalized.

Instead, she becomes a cleaning lady for the mob and starts playing the game by her own rules. The series is based on the original Argentine series.

The cast also includes Yung, Adan Canto, Oliver Hudson, Martha Millan, Sebastien and Valentino LaSalle, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, Eva De Dominici and Naveen Andrews.

According to the New Mexico State Film Office, the production employed approximately 256 New Mexico crew members, six New Mexico principal actors, and approximately 2,384 New Mexico background talent.

The second season averaged around 3.52 million viewers per episode, according to Nielsen. The numbers don't include streaming.

Yet, Fox released that the series numbers averaged 5.4 million viewers for the season.

"The Cleaning Lady" is the first live-action renewal for Fox for next season.

"THANK YOU to our outstanding Cast & Crew," Kwok says. "Our extremely passionate writers, directors & producers. ... Our entire @cleaningladyfox team for an incredible two seasons. We're back because of all of you."

The series is available to stream on Hulu.
