A unit in the Residences at Sand Pearl Resort on Clearwater Beach sold for $9.5 million on Thursday, according to a media release from real estate firm Smith & Associates.

The sale shattered the record for the most expensive condo in Tampa Bay, beating out the $8.34 million penthouse that Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik bought in February.

The sale has not yet been recorded by the Pinellas County Clerk’s Office.

Located at 11 Baymont St. in Clearwater, the 5,349-square-foot residence was purchased by an Ohio buyer who wanted a second vacation home, according to Smith & Associates.

“The home boasts three private terraces with direct Gulf views from almost every room and definitely has the ‘wow’ factor in details and design,” said Sophia Vasilaros, the agent who represented the buyer.

Terry Tillung and Tanner Tillung from Tillung Tampa Bay Coldwell Banker Realty were the listing agents.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom condo has a large great room, crown molding, espresso-stained mirrored wall panels, travertine floors, and walls of sliding glass doors.

The building has several resort-style amenities including 24-hour concierge service, a beachfront pool, a spa, a fitness center and a sauna.
