HOWELL — Cleary University welcomed 1,050 students for the 2023-24 school year.

Since its inception as a business college in 1883, it's the largest class the university has ever seen. According to a release, enrollment is up 17 percent from last year, when 898 students enrolled.

In 2021, 658 students enrolled.

“Cleary is becoming known as one of the best business schools in the state and country, and we plan to keep the momentum going." President Alan Drimmer wrote in a release.

“We attribute our success to many factors, particularly the alignment of our curriculum with the labor market. ... Our students are ready for the work world when they graduate from Cleary and it’s showing in our numbers.”

Drimmer added the university is proud of its robust faculty, who bring real-world experiences into the classroom.

"Small class sizes, personalized attention, and learning opportunities from business leaders are just a few more reasons Cleary’s enrollment continues to climb," he wrote.

He also pointed to the school's newly established accelerated degree program for first responders.

“This has attracted hundreds of adult students who have found the program convenient, flexible, attainable and affordable,” Drimmer said. “Our certification programs through Google, IBM, Meta and Six Sigma also are bringing in students looking for additional opportunities to advance their career. The certificate programs can be completed in six months."
