Clement scores eight TDs as Martinsburg rolls to W.Va. AAA football title

WHEELING, W.Va. — Martinsburg won its ninth West Virginia Class AAA football championship in the last 12 seasons with a dominating 62-21 victory over Huntington on Saturday at Wheeling Island Stadium.

The Bulldogs (13-1) won four straight titles from 2010-13 and four more in a row from 2016-19.

Hudson Clement tied a state championship record with eight touchdowns — four rushing and four receiving — for Martinsburg. He caught touchdown passes of 10, 27, 21 and 40 yards from Ezra Bagent, and ran for scores of 6, 5, 3 and 2 yards.

Jacob Barrick also caught a 29-yard TD pass as Bagent — the younger brother of Shepherd quarterback Tyson Bagent — finished with five scoring tosses.

The Bulldogs had five interceptions on defense.

Martinsburg scored four touchdowns in the final three minutes of the first half to open up a 41-14 halftime lead.
