Clemson basketball moves into top 20 in AP, USA TODAY coaches' poll rankings

Clemson is a top 20 basketball team.

The Tigers on Monday jumped from No. 24 to No. 20 in the Associated Press rankings and from No. 23 to No. 19 in the USA TODAY Coaches’ poll.

In the past week, Clemson beat Georgia Tech by 21 points and on Saturday won at Florida State, 82-81. The Tigers (18-4, 10-1) play Tuesday (7 p.m.) at Boston College (10-12, 4-7) in Chesnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Clemson is off to its best ACC start in program history. Coach Brad Brownell has already led Clemson to one win from matching its program-best 11 league victories in 2017-18, a season in which the Tigers made it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

Virginia (16-3, 3-2) is the ACC’s top-ranked team, coming in at No. 6 by AP and No. 4 by USA Today. Clemson is now second, moving ahead of Miami (16-5, 7-4) after the Hurricanes lost at Pitt. Clemson plays host to Miami on Saturday at Littlejohn Coliseum. The game is already sold-out.
