Clemson football senior defensive back Malcolm Greene announced Thursday on Twitter that he's entered the transfer portal.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound cornerback already has graduated and will be immediately eligible to play at another school.

He became the second Clemson player to enter the NCAA’s transfer portal in 2023, joining defensive lineman Etinosa Reuben, who is enrolled at Georgia Tech.

Greene’s transfer reduces the Tigers’ roster size from 88 to 87 and leaves the team with six cornerbacks, including All-ACC candidates Sheridan Jones and Nate Wiggins. Two freshman cornerbacks – Avieon Terrell of Atlanta and Branden Strozier of Lovejoy, Georgia – are set to join the program in late June.

Greene, of Richmond, Virginia, had seen his playing time diminish last season and wasn’t listed on Clemson’s two-deep depth chart for the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30. He played in seven games during the 2022 season and had nine tackles with one interception while logging 95 snaps.

Over his first two seasons, Greene accumulated 31 tackles and an interception while playing in 22 games, including three starts.

“Lastly, I want to thank all my teammates. The brotherhood established between you all and I is deeper than football. I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”

Clemson has had 11 players enter the transfer portal since winning the ACC Championship Game on Dec. 3.
