Clemson football vs. Furman: Our final score predictions are in

After defeating Georgia Tech on Monday, Clemson football will play its second game of the week against the Furman Paladins.

The Tigers are preparing to face their oldest rivals in college football and will look to earn the first home win of the season. Clemson hasn't lost the first home game of the season since Georgia shut out the Tigers 30-0 in 2003.

Clemson will also look to extend its undefeated streak against FCS teams. The Tigers haven't lost to the Paladins since Furman shut out Clemson 12-0 in 1936.

So, what did our experts think? Most believe the Tigers will easily take care of business at Memorial Stadium.

Take a look.

Clemson 45, Furman 10: Clemson hasn’t lost to Furman since Franklin D. Roosevelt was in office and Jesse Owens had just won four gold medals at the Olympic Games in Berlin. The year? 1936. The Tigers have won 31 consecutive games against the Paladins and there’s no reason to believe that streak will come to an end this week.

Todd Shanesy, Clemson beat reporter

Clemson 49, Furman 7: Even with a second game this week (Clemson beat Georgia Tech on Monday), the Tigers will have way too much energy in their home opener for FCS-level Furman. Expected bad weather will be the only thing that keeps Clemson from a 50-point victory.

Jim Rice, sports editor

Clemson 55, Furman 3: The Tigers were far from satisfied with their offensive play in their opener against Georgia Tech, and they’ll focus on smoothing out some rough edges. Clemson’s defense, one of the best in FBS, will punish outmatched FBS member Furman. Expect most of the Tigers' freshmen to make their debuts.

Clemson 52, Furman 3: All eyes will be on Cade Klubnik, who should get more than the one series he played in Monday’s win over Georgia Tech. The buzz around him won’t go away after Saturday, either.
