Clemson football vs. Syracuse set for noon kickoff on Oct. 22

CLEMSON -- Clemson and Syracuse will play at noon on Oct. 22 – the Tigers’ third “early” start in eight games this season.

The game will receive national TV exposure on ABC.

Including Saturday night's game at Florida State, Clemson will have played five night games this season.

Clemson (6-0, 4-0 ACC) is ranked No. 5 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA football coaches poll. Syracuse (5-0, 2-0) is ranked No. 18. The Tigers are coming off a 31-3 victory Saturday night at Boston College.

Syracuse is the surprise of the ACC in 2022. The Orange, who were projected for a last-place finish in the ACC’s Atlantic Division in the preseason poll, is off to their best start since 1987.

Syracuse, which went 5-7 last season, has yet to play a ranked opponent this season but will host No. 13 N.C. State on Saturday.

“Every year is different, every team is different, and I just feel like they feel like they can,” Syracuse coach Dino Babers said. “The proof is in the pudding but so far, so good.”

Clemson is 8-1 against Syracuse under coach Dabo Swinney and has won four in a row in the series, including a 17-14 victory last season at Syracuse. The lone victory by the Orange against Swinney came in 2017 – a 27-24 win at Syracuse.
