Clemson will look to end the season on a high note after its offense under new full-time quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei struggled to find the same rhythm he had when filling in for (now NFL) QB Trevor Lawrence in limited time the season prior.
In the eyes of college football analysts and bowl projectors, a loss against Missouri nearly wiped South Carolina out of the bowl picture, but it righted the ship by defeating Auburn on Nov. 20 and securing enough wins to get into a bowl game.
To make it back to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte for the title game Dec. 4, the Tigers need Wake Forest (6-1) to lose this week at Boston College and for N.C. State to lose at home to North Carolina. Clemson would have a tiebreaker on Wake Forest but not the Wolfpack because of a 27-21 double-overtime loss Sept. 25 in Raleigh.
The ACC championship comes with an automatic berth in a New Year’s Day bowl game.
