Clerks told lottery player in Missouri, ‘you might be our winner!’ They were right

When a Missouri Lottery player uncovered tickets that had been sitting in his truck for weeks, clerks at a BP gas station were happy to see him.

The man purchased Show Me Cash tickets at a BP station in Crystal City before the June 21 drawing, but he told lottery officials he left them in his car for three weeks.

He returned to the store when he found the tickets.

“I went in to check them, and the girls behind the counter started getting excited,” he told lottery officials. “They knew they had sold the winning ticket and said, ‘Oh, you might be our winner!’”

Sure enough, he was. He matched the winning numbers 15, 17, 21, 25 and 32 to win the $511,000 jackpot, according to the Missouri Lottery.

“They said, ‘You’re the big winner! We’ve been waiting for you!’” the lottery player recalled.

The jackpot for the Show Me Cash game starts at $50,000 and grows until someone is the winner. Odds of winning the top prize are 1-in-575,757.

Crystal City is a southern suburb of St. Louis.
