Cleveland Guardians get some love in pre-season prognostications, but only so much

The Cleveland Guardians are getting some love with respect to season predictions – sort of.

Let’s begin with ESPN where the general consensus has the Guardians winning the American League Central Division.

Of their 28 MLB writers, 15 chose the Guardians to win the division with the Chicago White Sox (7) and Minnesota Twins (6) splitting the rest.

Their writers prove fickle once the postseason is factored in with the Houston Astros predicted to win the American League and face the San Diego Padres, a sexy choice, or Atlanta Braves in the World Series with whichever National League team winning it all.

Cleveland’s not getting that much recognition over at CBS.com where just half of their six writers think they will win the Central. The other three give it to the Twins.

The picture is no rosier over at MLB.com where they took the votes of 87 experts to come up with their predictions for the season.

They love the Guardians in the Central, but that’s about it with an exception.

Many put Cleveland third baseman Jose Ramirez in the most valuable player conversation, but only one, Mike Axisa of CBS.com has him winning it.

But, of course, all of this pre-season prognostication should be taken with a grain of salt. They still have to play the games.

In short: Play ball!
