Cleveland rapper Q-Money arrested for the shooting death of fellow rapper

A 23-year-old rapper from Ohio has been arrested in Georgia for the death of another up-and-coming artist.

Q-Money, whose real name is Qamar Akee Williams, was charged with felony murder in connection to the shooting death of 24-year-old Calvin Alexander Chappell, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said in a statement to USA TODAY.

Authorities said Williams allegedly shot Chappell "multiple times with a handgun" April 15 in Decatur, Georgia.

Williams turned himself in "without incident" Thursday and was taken into custody at the DeKalb County Jail after a warrant was issued for his arrest, the statement added.

The Cleveland native is signed by Warner Brothers Records. He released his latest mixtape, "Ain't (Expletive) Funny," in August 2018, featuring single "Neat," which has over 7.1 million views on YouTube.

Cleveland.com reported that seven people were injured in a shooting after Williams finished recording the music video for "Neat" in Cleveland in July. Cortez Ruffin, 27, died as a result.

After the shooting, Williams denounced violence and offered his apologies to the families.

"I wanted to put my city on the map and spread positivity," he told the outlet in July while holding his young son. "I don't use guns in my videos. You may see some money in there, but no guns, no violence. I don't promote violence at all. I'm for the kids."

Williams has been absent from social media since April 14, when he was promoting a new song called "Patron."
