Safe Communities, a program of Portage County Health District will kick off the

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s annual “Coast to Coast Click it or Ticket

Campaign,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets, 549 S. Chillicothe Road, Aurora.

The Kick Off will promote awareness of the high-visibility national enforcement campaign May 16 through June 5. Law enforcement agencies in Portage County will be participating in the seat belt enforcement campaign to assure all drivers and passengers are buckled up.

Portage County’s current seat belt usage rate (provided by the University of Akron) is 91.3%. Law enforcement and community agencies are working together to increase the county’s seat belt rate. In addition to promoting the enforcement campaign, Safe Communities will also be promoting the importance to buckle up every trip, every time.

The kickoff will include distribution of traffic safety materials, free child passenger seat checks, a first-responder vehicle display from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a K9 demonstration at 11:30 a.m. and the Saved by the Belt Award will be presented at noon.
