Climber seriously injured in fall at Eldorado Canyon State Park

Jun. 22—A climber suffered serious injuries after falling in Eldorado Canyon State Park on Wednesday morning, according to a release.

A 58-year-old woman and her climbing partner had completed their climb in the area of the Wind Tower and were in their descent around 9:11 a.m. when the woman fell about 20 to 60 feet.

Other climbers in the area went to the woman's aid and were able to call for emergency help and guide rescuers to the scene.

The injured climber was put in a litter and full body vacuum splint and evacuated to an ambulance that transferred her to a waiting helicopter. The climber was flown to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Rescuers were also able to help the woman's climbing partner finish the descent. That climber had only minor injuries.

Both climbers were equipped with full climbing gear.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Mountain View Fire Protection District, Louisville Fire Protection District and Medevac all responded to the call.
