Longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin claims she was sexually accosted by a U.S. senator, according to a new report.

In her memoir set to be released next week, an early copy of which was obtained by the Guardian, Abedin does not identify the senator but does say the encounter happened while she worked for Clinton when the former first lady was a U.S. senator from New York between 2001 and 2009.

Abedin said she was at a dinner in Washington, D.C., attended by “a few senators and their aides," but not Clinton.

“I ended up walking out with one of the senators, and soon we stopped in front of his building and he invited me in for coffee. Once inside, he told me to make myself comfortable on the couch," she wrote.

Abedin said the senator took off his blazer to make the coffee.

“Then, in an instant, it all changed. He plopped down to my right, put his left arm around my shoulder, and kissed me, pushing his tongue into my mouth, pressing me back on the sofa," she said. “I was so utterly shocked, I pushed him away. All I wanted was for the last 10 seconds to be erased.”

Abedin said the senator seemed shocked and apologized and said that he had "misread" her.

“Then I said something only the twentysomething version of me would have come up with — ‘I am so sorry’ — and walked out, trying to appear as nonchalant as possible," she said.

Abedin wrote that she avoided the senator for a few days before running into him.

He asked her if they were still friends and Abedin said she nodded "yes." She added that Clinton then joined the two of them “as if she knew I needed rescuing even though I’d told her nothing about that night.”

Abedin says she “buried the incident” in her mind in an attempt to forget about it up until Brett Kavanaugh faced allegations of sexual misconduct, which he denied, during his confirmation process to be a Supreme Court justice in late 2018.

Abedin married former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner in 2010, and they have one son together. Abedin reflects in her upcoming memoir, Both/And, on the "rage" she felt after Weiner shared a lewd photo with the world.

Abedin filed for divorce in 2017 from Weiner after he pleaded guilty to sexting a minor. Weiner served 18 months of a 21-month prison sentence for sexting with a 15-year-old girl, after which he was released in May 2019.
