Verizon Wireless customers in Clinton area not connecting to 911, police say

Residents in Clinton who use Verizon Wireless may be having trouble connecting to 911 dispatchers, police say.

Findlay Township Police Department said a Verizon Wireless outage is causing the disconnect.

Authorities are asking anyone who may run into an emergency to use whatever is available to them for help. They recommend using landline phones, contacting a family member with a different carrier or using a Wi-Fi-based calling system if they are connected to the internet.

Channel 11 has reached out to a Verizon Wireless spokesperson who said the company is looking into the situation.
