Abe Morrison started one game at quarterback as a sophomore because of an injury.

The Clyde senior started at linebacker, and quarterback the next two years. That's not an easy dual role.

Walsh University, a Division II program in North Canton, knows it. He continues his career as a linebacker.

"The weight room," Morrison said. "By the time I was a sophomore in the spring, I'd lift with Dillon Overmyer. I made memories there, too. He helped me become the player I was junior year, and now."

Clyde was 8-4, including 3-2 in the SBC Lake Division and a postseason victory last season. It was 10-3, including a tie for the league crown and two playoff wins.

Morrison saw older brother, Jack Morrison, win a state crown in 2019.

"I was a freshman," he said. "I didn't play, my brother did. Watching my brother, I'll remember it for the rest of my life."

Morrison had 90 tackles and two interceptions as a senior.

"The biggest goal is to see the field freshman year," he said. "It comes with a lot of hard work, I'm ready to work for it."

He had 15 tackles in a narrow setback to Perkins as a junior.

"Beating Bellevue senior year," he said of his team highlight. "I'm smiling talking abut it. It's one of those games, when you're out of high school you'll look back and talk about it and be glad you won it, then."

He hopes to be part of similar games at Walsh.

"When I went there for my visit, it felt home," he said. "I met a few of the players, it felt like they were genuine. It felt like where I belonged. Now that I made my decision, I feel 1,000 pounds less and I can enjoy the rest of my senior year.

"There was a ton of pressure to make that decision, the rest of your life. It was a huge decision, I feel I made the right one."

Morrison, who plans to study education, also considered Findlay, where Jack is a sophomore defensive lineman.

"He encouraged me to do what I wanted," Morrison said. "He talked about making me my best. I'll miss chasing that with him. Before his senior year, he worked extremely hard. In the weight room and stuff people don't see.

"After seeing him, I knew what it would take to play the way he did, but in my own way."
