CM Punk has returned to AEW after nine months away from the company. Punk made his return on the debut episode of new AEW show Collision, teaming with FTR to take on Jay White, Juice Robinson and Samoa Joe.

Collision's debut episode hailed from Chicago, Punk's hometown, and opened with him coming to the ring to cut a promo while carrying a red bag. Punk began by telling the crowd: "I'm tired of being nice," before saying that he had never lost the AEW World Championship, which is now held by MJF.

Punk went on to tell the crowd: "You love me because I've never compromised. I am me, and I couldn't have done all this without all of you.

"But it seems there are some people that hate me for the same reasons you all love me. Hey listen, I understand the sheer magnitude of me makes people uncomfortable. I understand that my mere presence makes people uncomfortable. That's because I'm the truth and the truth is painful."

He then went on to reference Warner Bros. Discovery President David Zaslav, saying: "You know what David Zaslav calls me? One bill Phil. That's because I'm the one genuine article in a world of counterfeit Bucks."

Ahead of his return to AEW, Punk spoke to ESPN and said he has tried to reach out to Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks since the famous post-All Out scrum but he's been told: "Do not contact this person."

Following Punk's promo on Collision, the Young Bucks changed their Twitter bio to read: "If it were 2018, we'd already have a 'Counterfeit Bucks' shirt available on PWT".

Collision's debut episode also saw the return of Andrade El Idolo, who defeated Buddy Matthews and former TNT Champion Miro who defeated Tony Neese.
