CMA Fest 2023: Here's what kind of weather to expect in Nashville

The severe weather threat has once again increased threatening frequent lightning, damaging winds and hail up to the size of a quarter is possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures Thurday and Friday were the coolest they'd been all week with highs in the low 80s. Thursday also featured patchy fog and haze thanks to lingering smoke from wildfires in Canada.

Saturday had a high of 89, according to the NWS.

Prolonged exposure to sun, lots of walking and poor hydration can be a recipe for heat exhaustion. There will be several hydration stations throughout the festival grounds.

Severe weather is now in the forecast Sunday. Most of Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, are at an enhanced risk (3 of 5) for showers and thunderstorms, according to the NWS.

The majority of the rainfall is expected between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. with the main threats being damaging winds, large hail and a possible formation of a tornado.

The festival offers shelters in the event of severe weather.

Shelters are located at:

  • Music City Center Garage (6th Avenue between Demonbreun & Korean Veterans Blvd)

  • Music City Center (during operational hours only; 201 Rep. John Lewis Way)

  • Bridgestone Arena (501 Broadway)

  • Hilton Hotel Underground Parking Garage (121 4th Avenue South)

  • 222 Garage (222 1st Ave. S.)

  • If you are unable to get to one of these safe shelters, proceed to the nearest business for cover.

Thursday: Widespread haze, patchy fog in the morning and evenigng otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 83 and low around 56.

Friday: Sunny with a high near 84 and low around 57.

Saturday: Sunny with a high near 89 and low around 65.

Sunday: 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., high near 88 with a low around 66. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph are possible.

Monday: 30% chance of showers but mostly sunny with a high near 78 and low around 60.
