1 person dead, another injured after shooting in southeast Charlotte, CMPD says
One person died following an apparent shooting in southeast Charlotte, police said on Monday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said officers responded to reports of a shooting near the 7500 block of Creekridge Road, near Independence Boulevard, around 10:30 a.m. They found a witness and “evidence of a shooting,” but no victim.
Police said officers later learned of two people with gunshot wounds arrived at a nearby hospital. Hospital staff said one person died, and the other person suffered non-life-threatening injuries, CMPD said in a statement. Police said they are not looking for any suspects.
The identity of the deceased has not been released.
Homicide Unit detectives are conducting an investigation near the 7500 block of Creekridge Road in the Independence Division where one person has been pronounced deceased.
