1. A serial killer strangled his mother. Now, he says, it’s Henry Wallace’s turn to die
Tyrece Woods doesn’t remember his mother, Brandi Henderson. Nor does he recall her death.
On March 9, 1994, Henderson, 18, was holding her 10-month-old son when Henry Louis Wallace sexually assaulted and garroted her in her east Charlotte apartment.
Woods is one of seven Charlotte children who lost their mothers to Wallace’s killing spree.
In a new series from The Charlotte Observer, Mike Gordon spoke with Woods and others as they reflect on the killings nearly 30 years later.
2. Parents asked. Did CMS listen? 4 things to know about controversial bus stop plan
Some parents of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students are still unsure how they’ll get their kids to school.
A new bus stop plan called Express Stops is being rolled out by CMS this year. It’s designed to cut down on two-hour ride times and costs to the district and impacts about 5,200 students. However, there’s a downside of the service for some.

4. Southern Living says this Charlotte steakhouse is among the best in the South
A new report says North Carolina is home to one of the best restaurants in the South.
Southern Living released a list of the best steakhouses in the region, and Beef ‘n Bottle Steakhouse in south Charlotte came in at No. 20 on the list.
